Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Federal Account Manager Leader to join the team! This is an exciting opportunity to lead a growing team of four Federal Account Managers. In this leadership role, you'll drive team performance, improve processes, and foster collaboration with internal stakeholders and external clients. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in federal sales, account management, and team leadership, with a focus on cultivating a results-driven, growth-oriented culture.
Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management:
- Responsible for leading the pipeline generation efforts for themselves and their team for AFS.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Federal Account Managers to meet sales targets and KPIs, providing ongoing feedback and career development.
- Monitor individual and team performance through regular one-on-one meetings, setting objectives, and offering actionable feedback for growth.
- Foster collaboration between Federal Account Managers and other internal teams (e.g., Channel, Marketing, Engineering, Customer Success) to ensure alignment of sales strategies.
- Assign and prioritize key accounts and territories to maximize coverage and opportunity
Sales Strategy & Execution:
- Ensure adherence to sales best practices, pipeline management, and reporting, using CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) to track leads and sales progress.
- Collaborate with Federal Sales Directors to manage strategic focus areas and push opportunities forward.
- Guide the team in setting individual and team-level sales goals aligned with company objectives, adjusting strategies as necessary.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work with Channel, Marketing, Engineering, and Customer Success teams to share insights and improve the sales process for federal accounts.
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership on team performance, sales trends, and growth, using data-driven insights to adjust strategies.
- Share best practices for prospecting, account management, and closing deals to foster continuous improvement within the sales team.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years in sales/account management in the federal sector.
- Deep understanding of federal procurement processes, regulations, and decision-making, with experience in both new business and renewals.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire a team, with experience in coaching, performance management, and conflict resolution.
- A track record of success in driving revenue growth, managing a sales pipeline, and achieving quota goals in federal or enterprise sectors.
- Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM systems, using data to inform strategy and track progress.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with large enterprise customers or VARs in the federal space.
- 2+ years of experience managing a sales team, driving sales performance and team development in a high-growth environment.
- Familiarity with federal government budgeting and contract structures.
- Ability to gather competitive intelligence to inform sales outcomes, product decisions, and strategy.
