Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITY IN A NUTSHELL

You? A seasoned backend developer with the experience to tackle complex integrations and shape robust services that scale. You’re proactive, bringing fresh ideas to the table and taking the lead on technical decisions when needed.

Role? As part of the Integrations team, you’ll design and evolve the backend systems that connect our products with external partners, ensuring seamless data flow and reliable performance.

Tech stack? We currently rely on Scala and functional programming principles, Kafka for data pipelines, and Kubernetes for deployment. Our architecture follows microservices patterns for flexibility and scalability. While Scala is our go-to language right now, our company also uses Kotlin, so we may explore it down the line as our needs evolve.

Location? We embrace a hybrid work approach and invite you to join us in our office in Stockholm for 2 days a week. If you’re not the working-from-home kind of person, you are of course welcome in our office every day. With team members also based in Oslo, there’s some possibility for travel!

Why us? We’re a small team with a history of success, which has given us the trust and freedom to shape our own path. You’ll have real influence over our backend systems, helping us move towards more scalable, flexible architectures as we reach bigger audiences and new markets. We set aside time to learn, experiment, and find better ways of working - so you’ll make a meaningful impact while sharpening your skills and growing your expertise.

Sounds like your cup of tea? Check out the details below!

WHO ARE YOU?

  • You have at least 5 years of backend experience working with external APIs and integrations, and you’re either skilled in or have the desire to learn functional programming (Scala or Kotlin), building loosely coupled, scalable systems that evolve easily.
  • You thrive in cross-functional environments, working closely with product managers, UX designers, and developers to align technical decisions with user and business goals.
  • You take a user-centric, product-minded approach, ensuring what you build delivers meaningful value.
  • You’re strategic and analytical, making data-informed decisions that consider both the technical and business context.
  • You welcome change and challenge the status quo, proposing innovative ideas and adjusting your approach as we evolve.

WHAT’S THE JOB LIKE?

You’ll join our Integrations team within the Advertising area—soon to be 10 people strong—where we integrate product offerings into our marketplaces, creating natural connections for both our users and partners.

It’s not just about shipping features; it’s about understanding what users need and what partners bring to the table, and then making smart choices that balance both. Our products need to be relevant and helpful, without shouting for attention. Together with a Product Manager, UX Designer, Business Developer, and other Backend and Frontend Developers, you’ll ensure our integrations run smoothly behind the scenes. Everyone here is part of a cross-functional team, collaborating across disciplines and locations to ensure our efforts are aligned and impactful.

You’ll architect backend services, optimize data flows, and refine our infrastructure. You’ll participate in code reviews, discuss implementation details, and make decisions that shape how we expand into new markets

Over the next 12 months, the projects you’ll touch range from launching our flagship product into new regions and taking over existing solutions in other markets, to rolling out brand-new products where we haven’t ventured before. At the same time, you’ll be part of redesigning our technical architecture so we can handle more diverse products and bigger audiences. This blend of expanding our reach while rethinking our foundations means you can have a tangible impact on how we work and how we grow.

THE CHALLENGE AND THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a team in motion. We’re growing across countries and evolving our systems at the same time. That can be demanding, but it also means you get to influence how we do things—from how we shape the code to how we collaborate across Sweden and Norway. By embracing these changes, you’ll help us build stronger connections for users and partners alike, and create a flexible setup that can adapt as we continue to grow. In short, you’ll play a key role in turning complexity into a clear path forward.
