Job Title: Linux DevOps Specialist

Location: Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Job Overview

The Linux DevOps Specialist is responsible for managing and optimizing our Linux-based infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration and deployment of applications. This role involves automating processes and collaborating with various teams to enhance system performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Incident and Problem Management:

  • Analyze and resolve complex system issues promptly.

  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring problems and recommend solutions.

2. Infrastructure and Application Support:

  • Provide advanced support for servers, networks, databases, and applications.

  • Monitor system performance and implement optimization strategies.

  • Manage and troubleshoot cloud services, virtualization platforms, and storage solutions.

3. System Maintenance and Upgrades:

  • Plan and execute system upgrades, patches, and security updates.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

  • Create and update system documentation and runbooks.

4. Automation and Scripting:

  • Develop scripts and tools to automate routine tasks and improve efficiency.

  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions for configuration management.

5. Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with security and architecture teams to align operations with business goals.

  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 support teams.

6. Linux Development & Administration:

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize Linux-based software and scripts for system automation and application performance.

  • Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain Linux servers to ensure high availability and reliability.

  • Monitor and optimize system performance using tools like top, htop, and sysstat.

  • Knowledge of networking (VLAN, switches, protocols, etc.)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 5+ years of experience in IT operations or a related role.

Strong expertise in:

  • Operating systems (Windows/Linux).

  • Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator (LFCS).

  • Database-specific certifications (e.g., PostgreSQL, OracleDB)

  • Proficiency in Linux environments (e.g., Ubuntu, Centos, Debian).

  • Knowledge of shell scripting and programming languages (e.g., Python, Bash, Perl).

  • Understanding of DevOps tools and practices (e.g., Ansible, Jenkins, Docker, GitHub, GitHub Actions).

  • Ability to work independently and handle high-pressure situations.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
